Sarah Kate Murphy, elopement photographer in Cork

Wild Irish Elopements · hello, I’m Sarah Kate

Connoisseur of dad jokes. Full time rogue.

Socially awkward, mildly charismatic and daft as a brush. Cork born, happiest near wild seas.

Sarah Kate Murphy, photographer

Why I do this

I’m for the imperfect people, the ones who celebrate the rough-and-tumble of life.

As a single parent, photography has been my solace — a place where I switch off and get lost in a moment. And even though I have yet to have my own happy ending, I’m a die-hard romantic. That’s why I adore this job.

When you book me, you gain a friend. A socially awkward, slightly inappropriate friend, but hey — we can’t all be perfect. I love getting to know people: what makes them tick, their quirky little habits, their cute idiosyncrasies.

I grew up twenty minutes from Gougane Barra, with West Cork at my fingertips. I know the cutest spots to watch the sunset and I know where the wind blows a gale down the valley. These days I spend my time on elopements and couple sessions — the two of you, a wild bit of Ireland, and nobody else watching.

Unreasonably happy about

The small, wild things

Mountains

Sea swims in warm rain

Moss — fecking love the stuff, it’s just so fluffy

Dogs and donkeys

Old man pubs with carpets and questionable smells

Finding money in your pocket

Lichen-covered stone walls

Tunnocks tea cakes

Anyone who can play an instrument

Old people with lots of smile lines

Paintings full of people doing lots of things

Winds so wild they steal your breath away

“She was bubbly, funny and relaxed. We'd only met her ten minutes before our shoot, but we immediately felt like we'd known her for years.”
